Our strategy

We are convinced that our strategy will have a positive long-term impact on society, the environment, and our economic performance. As the SLV Lighting Group, we focus on five strategic directions:

Customer focus : Installers, lighting designers, architects, wholesalers and many more – they are all at the heart of our activities.

Digital Transformation : We are driving digital transformation and using AI to boost efficiency and continuously improve the shopping experience.

Social values : We embrace social responsibility through a focus on responsible procurement.

Striving for excellence : Ensuring the highest quality of our products and our work.

Climate change

The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world. However, we can still minimize them by taking immediate action. We are aware of our responsibility and our role in this crisis. As a group, we have decided to accept this responsibility and become part of the solution. The biggest driver of climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Greenhouse gas emissions can be classified as direct or indirect emissions. Direct emissions, also known as Scope 1 emissions, include all GHG emissions generated by the company's own activities. This includes heating with natural gas or the company's vehicle fleet.

As a group, we have made it our mission to gradually minimize greenhouse gas emissions. We pursue a holistic approach along our entire value chain. Our key measures include recording and reducing Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, optimizing logistics processes, and increasing the use of environmentally friendly packaging solutions. We rely on long-term partnerships and transparent data to systematically record and reduce emissions in the supply chain.

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Packaging significantly impacts a company's resource consumption. Plastic causes considerable environmental problems, from CO₂ emissions during production to global waste streams. That's why we began systematically reducing our plastic use early on. Since 2019, we have reduced our use by 99 percent, primarily by eliminating plastic packaging and using paper-based alternatives. We currently only use plastics in a few cases where functional requirements necessitate them. Here, too, we are actively seeking more environmentally friendly solutions. With "on demand" “ In terms of packaging , we adapt the volume of our packaging to the contents, reduce unnecessary material and increase the efficiency of logistical processes. Since 2025, our product packaging has been gradually receiving more than just a fresh design. Our new packaging consists of at least 70% recycled cardboard – some of which is FSC-certified. This also results in a reduction in packaging weight. As a result, we save around 130 tons of paper annually – and need over 2,500 fewer mature trees for our packaging. That's equivalent to a small forest area the size of a football field. In this way, we are making another important contribution, step by step, to a more responsible use of our resources.

Circular economy

To achieve sustainable growth, we must focus on the circular economy approach. This approach focuses on changing processes and systems to improve the efficiency and management of our resources. By applying the fundamental principles of a circular economy, we can contribute to a sustainable future.

Resource efficiency : Our SAMIRA, SIMA, and RUBA lamps are largely made from recycled plastic. Furthermore, 85% of our packaging boxes are made from recycled paper.

Energy efficiency : Our portfolio consists of 100% LED lighting for residential, work and outdoor areas – and we are continuously working to further expand the proportion of higher energy efficiency classes in our product range.

Recyclability : Our products are designed so that they can be recycled at the end of their life cycle.

Repairability : Approximately 97% of our lighting products can already be repaired by a qualified technician.

Modularity : Currently, approximately 63% of our luminaires are modular in design, allowing individual components to be flexibly exchanged or replaced as needed.

USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY

The use of renewable energies is the foundation for environmentally responsible business practices. We always strive to use renewable energies whenever possible. At all our German locations, as well as at other major sites, we already source 100% renewable electricity. At all other locations, a conversion to renewable energy has already been reviewed or implemented.

Social responsibility

Our business practices are always guided by the ten principles of the UN Global Compact . This includes fundamental responsibility in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. Since 2017, we have been a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and committed to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which address the world's global challenges. In this decade of action, we have defined our goals in line with the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
