The sales areas in the Delta bike Cube Store attract cycling enthusiasts, as if by some force of magnetic attraction. Is it therefore no wonder that a second branch is required in Wettenberg in order to satisfy the high level of demand. Lights by SLV do their part here, harmoniously combining store design and the lighting concept. As a result, in both the workshop and on the sales floor, the lighting focusses on what is really most important: bikes are in the spotlight When it comes to shop lighting, the main aim is to present goods correctly, to guide customers through the store, and to make even more efficient use of electricity with intelligent light planning, concepts, and LEDs. So it's fair to say that these were challenges that had to be mastered in the Delta bike Cube Store.

This is what shop lighting is all about

When it comes to optimal shop lighting, the most important thing is to present the goods in an appealing way. This ensures that customers have the most pleasant shopping experience possible, which will be remembered for a long time. Visitors are guided through the shop in a targeted manner by the appropriate ambient lighting and the goods that are presented in the right light. With intelligent shop lighting using LEDs, electricity can be used even more efficiently! Successful shop lighting includes various factors that should be fulfilled:

  • Sustainable lighting concept with long-life LEDs These challenges also had to be mastered for the lighting of the Delta Bike Cube store in Wetternberg.

THE TASK: PLANNING THE SHOP LIGHTING FOR THE BIKE SHOP

With LED shop lighting, the bicycles were not only to shine in the best light, but the natural design of the shop area was also to be emphasised. The shop's workshop had to be equipped in such a way that standard-compliant lighting conditions prevailed there. The use of a long-lasting lighting design as well as the flexible use of light in the sales area were particular challenges. The latter was achieved through the rotatability and swivelling capability of the tracks and LED spots used.

A love for cycling, redesigned within a space spanning 1700 m²

The Delta Bike Cube Store in Wettenberg grew out of the cycling equipment mail-order business founded by Thomas Langner in the early 1990s. Today, the bike shop, with two branches, is a major draw for cycling enthusiasts and those who aspire to be. Spanning over 1700 m² of retail space, the store not only offers leading brands but, above all, a highly motivated and competent team that regularly participates in training and stays on top of the latest trends. To meet increasing customer demand, Managing Director Thomas Langner decided to expand the retail space. And on January 17, 2020, the new branch in Wettenberg opened its doors as the Delta Bike Cube Store Wettenberg.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT OF THE BIKE SHOP

The shop's minimalist design relies primarily on organic materials: wood and plants create a pleasantly inviting atmosphere without being intrusive. The black railings, ventilation pipes, and display areas are understated, allowing the bicycles to remain the focus. This also allows our SLV lights to blend harmoniously into the design concept and provide organic lighting for the shop.

Busbars as subtle guides

The 3-phase tracks mounted to the ceiling not only serve as basic lighting, but also perfectly illuminated the displayed products. However, they also simultaneously serve as an interior architectural feature, which subtly guides the customers through the sales area. And because the installed electrical circuits allow the tracks to be individually switched, the most diverse of lighting scenarios are also possible. The track systems mounted here, featuring EURO SPOT TRACK lights, impress on account of their slick appearance, which integrates discreetly into the natural shop design. On account of their ability to pivot vertically, the horizontal range of rotation, and the flexible positioning of the high-voltage tracks, the lights create accents of the highest level.

Functionality meets design.

In the workshop, however, owner and Managing Director Langner is focussed entirely on functionality: here compliant workspace lighting is the crucial challenge to be overcome, with our GLENOS Profile Pendant Light with its 6600 lm output providing the optimal solution. The so-called UGR value is of particular importance: UGR stands for Unified Glare Rating, The value indicates whether and how strong a lighting system produces glare, from a certain viewing position. This is influenced not only by the light itself but also by the characteristics of the space. If anyone is unsure as to what value is appropriate for a certain work area, they can consult the various “Guidelines for the illumination of indoor and outdoor workplaces and sporting facilities”.
