Thoughtful lighting design
It was important to the two builders to establish a uniform style throughout the house during lighting planning. Additionally, the lighting should permanently adapt to its future use – in other words, ensuring maximum flexibility. Smart GU10 bulbs should fit into the lights. Susanna and Marc also desired a mix of direct and indirect lighting that perfectly highlights artworks. For all these reasons, Susanna and Marc chose track lighting from SLV. Hardly any type of lighting offers more flexibility: with track lighting, all lights can be swapped, added, or repositioned. And track lighting also stands out in terms of energy efficiency: indirect lighting and smart control can help save electricity.

Susanna and Marc Mevißen have been sharing all their progress with their followers from the first groundbreaking in 2020 until its completion this year. It is particularly noteworthy that, apart from the shell construction, the two have created everything themselves. Despite the work on the house taking place after their regular jobs, they have paid special attention to sustainable building, energy efficiency, and sophisticated design. The result: After just 22 months, the house was already ready for occupancy.
We chose SLV from the start and that made lighting planning much easier for us.

Service and quality of SLV
The reason Susanna and Marc chose lighting from SLV is clear: Marc Mevißen was already familiar with SLV from his architecture studies, where he worked with light and shadow installations in the showroom. When planning the lighting for their own dream house, the design and attractive price-performance ratio of the track lighting convinced the two influencers. Additionally, the good support and fast service from SLV played a role.
Light as Artwork
The dining room of Susanna and Marc's house has a large open space with a height of 5.65 meters. Above the dining table, they wanted to create a sort of sculpture out of lights. As a basic construction, power rails were invisibly integrated into the acoustic ceiling to remain as flexible as possible. For inspiration, the team from SLV, together with the homeowners, sought inspiration on-site and introduced many new lights. “We liked the design and color of the [PANTILO](https://www.slv.com/uk-en/pantilo-convex-38?attribute%5Bdiameter_cm_sp_dimension%5D=40) from SLV the best to fill the open space aesthetically without glaring,” says Susanna Mevißen. “We love the reflection in the lamps very much, and they complete our concept.” The PANTILO pendant light impresses with its extraordinary appearance: The shade made of chrome-plated glass can be easily combined into a stylish cloud of lights through individual arrangements. The seven PANTILO lights above the large dining table perfectly match the high wooden ceiling, the light walls, the gray floor, and the black window frames in Susanna and Marc's house.
Lights are not only functional – they can also give a room an identity as a work of art.

Indirect light for a pleasant living atmosphere
Not only the ceilings are equipped with lighting from SLV in the house: Spots are also integrated into the floor, where the colors can be individually adjusted. The two owners rely on indirect lighting and smart control for all lighting solutions in their dream house: Depending on the light intensity in the room, some indirect lights illuminate the surroundings/room in the evening, immersing the house in the desired ambiance. This way, hardly any lights need to be actively turned on, which saves energy.
Ecologically build and illuminate
Thanks to thoughtful insulation, a flat roof with a photovoltaic system, and selected materials such as concrete, wood, glass, and natural stone, the passive house of influencers Susanna and Marc meets the KfW40+ standard and is a plus-energy building. With the PV system, they produce significantly more energy than they consume. The house also has an energy storage system and a wallbox to use the electricity even more effectively. This approach also fits our sustainability strategy: We also aim to use secondary raw materials in the production of our lighting solutions, consistently reduce packaging waste, and transport emissions.
